Enthusiasm is contagious. Seeing the work of other artists and learning about their creative process motivates me to get back in the studio. Here are a few of my favorite sources of inspiration from this month.
What I’m Reading
Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs
(top book in image above)
Filled with essays discussing Matisse’s unique techniques and materials, this book also includes beautiful images of his work in the studio during production and as finished pieces.
David Hockney: A Yorkshire Sketchbook
(bottom book in image above)
This book is a reproduction of one of David Hockney’s sketchbooks. The only text is a brief description on the dust jacket, but since it’s still in book format, I decided to include it here anyways. Each page is flooded with simple washes occasionally layered with pencil. I love this book!

What have you been reading, watching or listening to this month that has helped to keep your creative juices flowing?
Hi Michelle thanks so much for recommending my video, that was a lovely surprise. I too like discovering what inspires artists and particularly seeing inside their sketchbooks.
Thanks so much, so glad you're enjoying it!
